Before training as a counsellor I completed 22 years in the RAF where I was employed within logistics and completed three overseas tours in Belize, Cyprus and Germany.

Towards the end of my career in the RAF I became a volunteer at the Peterborough branch of the Samaritans. During my time with the Samaritans I was involved with the Listeners scheme at Peterborough Prison where I joined the training team helping to train inmates as volunteer listeners. I also became a trainer for Samaritans, training new volunteers to take phone calls and respond to emails and texts from members of the public using the service.

My training to become a Counsellor began at City College Peterborough where I gained a Certificate in Counselling Skills and Studies. I then moved to the Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute (SPTI) in Nottingham where I gained a BSc(Hons) degree in Humanistic Integrative Counselling. I then studied at the Institute for Art in Therapy and Education (IATE) in London where I gained a Certificate in Parent-Child Therapy.

I have gained a wealth of clinical experience by working as a volunteer Counsellor within the secure environment of a category C prison and at Peterborough Rape Crisis Centre. I was also employed by Peterborough Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) as a Counsellor supporting sexually abused children and their families.
